Medical Weight Loss
At Alliance Family Care, we have been committed to helping patients achieve their weight loss goals for more than a decade. Our medical weight loss programs are designed with the utmost attention to detail, ensuring patients like you get the results they desire. We pride ourselves on offering comprehensive weight loss programs using weight loss injections and weight loss medications that not only provide results successfully but ensure results are able to be maintained for years to come.
Weight Loss Programs Tailored to You
Our comprehensive weight loss programs entail more than just weight loss medications and weight loss injections. Our patients get to work one-on-one with our certified nutritionist on staff to get custom meal plans created for their individual needs and personal preferences. These nutritional guides aim to supplement your weight loss journey, providing you with healthy habits that you can maintain for the long term.
To begin your tailored weight loss journey, one of our providers will complete a full evaluation of your weight and overall health. This may include a review of your medical history as well as any medications you are currently taking, all to ensure your weight loss program is tailored to your needs. We also require that our patients get a full blood panel prior to starting their weight loss journey, ensuring their thyroid levels, hormones, blood sugars, and more allow for safe and successful medicated weight loss.
GLP-1 Injections for Weight Loss
In addition to our nutrition plans, exercise and fitness plans, lifestyle management, and more, we are happy to provide our patients with the opportunity to supplement their weight loss journeys with GLP-1 injections. These weight loss injections have gained popularity over the years for their ability to facilitate weight loss in individuals who struggle to lose weight on their own.
Our providers ensure that, under their care, you utilize and administer these medications safely. Among these weight loss injections include:
Ozempic, also known by its generic name semaglutide, is a highly effective medication primarily used to improve blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. However, it has also shown significant promise in aiding weight loss. The active ingredient, semaglutide, induces a feeling of satiety or fullness, which can help suppress appetite and lead to weight loss. This GLP-1 analog medication works by increasing the levels of incretins, a hormone that aids your body in producing more insulin when needed. This medication has been a game-changer for those with type 2 diabetes who wish to lose weight effectively.
There are several side effects associated with Ozempic, including nausea and other stomach-related issues. Our providers will do their best to monitor and mitigate these side effects.
Wegovy, another medication with semaglutide as the main active ingredient, is an FDA-approved medication designed to help adults struggling with obesity or excess weight. This medication works in the same way as Ozempic, as it suppresses appetite and increases feelings of fullness or satiety from smaller portions of food. Like Ozempic, Wegovy may come with side effects, including nausea and gastrointestinal distress. However, our providers will be sure to help moderate these side effects by adjusting your dosage as necessary.
Mounjaro, also known as tirzepatide, is another weight loss injection that facilitates weight loss in those who are struggling to lose weight on their own. Mounjaro is unique in that it acts on both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors. This makes the medication a dual antagonist for these receptors, offering patients successful weight loss via appetite suppression and increased feelings of satiety from smaller portions of food. It is to be expected that patients may have some of the same side effects as if they were to take Ozempic or Wegovy.
Saxenda, or liraglutide, is another GLP-1 receptor antagonist that increases feelings of fullness and suppresses appetite, leading to effective and successful weight loss. Saxenda is a popular choice among individuals who may not be receptive to semaglutide or are looking for an alternative treatment to Wegovy that mimics the same results. It is important to note that Saxenda may cause the same side effects as other GLP-1 receptor antagonists. Talk to your provider if you find your side effects are worsening, and they can adjust your medication intake accordingly.
Other GLP-1 agonists available as injections for weight loss include Trulicity (dulaglutide) administered weekly, Bydureon BCise (exenatide extended-release) administered weekly, Byetta (exenatide) administered twice daily, and Victoza (liraglutide) administered daily. To find out which weight loss medication is right for you, we encourage you to talk to one of our providers at your private appointment.
Our providers are proud to offer a range of prescription weight-loss medications to help our patients who are looking for an alternative to weight-loss injections. These prescription medications, when coupled with a healthy diet and regular exercise, help our patients shed their excess weight quickly and effectively. Some of the medications we offer our patients include topiramate, metformin, and phentermine.
